GCG Training
What is CGC?
The Canine Good Citizen (CGC) and its advanced counterpart, the Canine Good Citizen Advanced (CGCA), represent esteemed certifications acknowledging a dog's exemplary behavior and training. The CGC is a fundamental program that evaluates a dog's ability to exhibit good manners in various everyday situations, testing their obedience and social skills. It is a valuable certification for dogs and their owners, fostering responsible pet ownership and promoting well-behaved canines in the community. Building upon this foundation, the CGCA takes things a step further by assessing a dog's behavior in more challenging scenarios, ensuring they can maintain composure and reliability in real-life situations. Achieving CGC and CGCA certifications reflects not only a dog's proficiency in basic obedience but also their adaptability and good conduct, reinforcing their role as respectful and well-socialized companions. These certifications are crucial not only for showcasing a dog's training achievements but also for contributing to a safer and more harmonious community environment. For more information on the CGC please check out the AKC website.

During the CGCU class, dogs will practice ignoring food on the sidewalk, remaining composed near traffic, walking through crowds, entering buildings calmly, and more. Passing the CGCU evaluation certifies your dog as ready for the sights, sounds, and commotion of the urban environment.
